Harmonic, maritime surroundings and charming history await in Skudeneshavn, the Norwegians' favourite summer town.

Forget about the hectic modern lifestyle and travel back in time to the southern tip of Karmøy, where you will find the charming little town of Skudeneshavn. It was in the 18th century that herring found its way to this little harbour town and it developed into a bustling little city.

For nearly 70 years, the town was regularly visited by schools of herring, which attracted thousands of fishermen.

After a short while a community emerged that is known today as “Norway’s summer town”.

My family thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the tour guide….they said the trip would not have been the same without it…. And that it was money well spent…  Thank you so much for everything…..

130 small wooden houses have stood the test of time along the Skudefjord and many seahouses stand side by side and enjoy the fresh sea breeze.

This little town is blessed with elegant architecture, small streets and passages, idyllic back gardens and many hidden little gems. It has one of Norway’s best preserved old towns.

Your guide will take you to Fishermans Memorial and tell you exciting stories about the dangerous life of the seamen and those who tried their luck in the USA.

Complete your tour with a visit to the Mælandsgården Museum, an authentic Merchant House from the 19th century, when Skudeneshavn prospered in fishing, shipping and trade. Located in the Old Town quarters amongst protected wooden houses, the museum houses a collection of interesting exhibits and depicts the shop and living quarters of a Merchant.
